Creating a Lego themed feature in a child’s bedroom with an unused fireplace

The latest addition to SO Kid’s Lego themed bedroom is a buildable fireplace. The unused and old-fashioned fireplace didn’t really fit with the rest of the bright, modern room, so we found a cheap and easy way to update and make use of it. SO Dad cut some black Lego compatible base plates down to size and glued them onto a wooden frame which sits within the fireplace surround. We arranged Lego bricks to look like flames, but decided not to glue these down so it can be an interactive feature rather than just a decoration and SO Kid can rearrange the bricks however he likes! See the rest of the room here.
