Family fun at Westquay, Southampton

There’s always something to do at Westquay, Southampton, whatever the weather! We popped in on a rainy day this May half term for a day full of family fun.

What better way to kick off a rainy day than a trip to the cinema? The Showcase Cinema de Lux on Level 4 of Westquay offers family tickets (which at £30 for a family of four is pretty reasonable), autism friendly screenings each month, a great selection of treats available to purchase (including the obligatory pick n mix, of course) and super-comfy recliner seating as standard. During the morning’s Aladdin screening I could easily have fallen to sleep in those seats, so it’s a good job the film was enjoyable enough to keep me awake!

After the Aladdin screening, we headed down to Level 2 of Westquay, where the centre was hosting some free Aladdin themed activities for the kids to get involved with. Even Princess Jasmine was there to help out and pose for pictures!

This May half term, The Maze returned to the Esplanade, outside Westquay, after being so popular with local families last year. Completely free to enjoy, this year’s Maze at Westquay featured an Urban Treehouse in the centre, with various activities on offer, plus some great views of the city to take in from the top.

After finding our way around the maze (and back out again!) we were ready to rest and refuel, so headed to Italian restaurant L’Osteria on Level 3 of Westquay. It was our first visit to L’Osteria and we were absolutely amazed at the size of the pizzas – they were huge! I’m so glad we only ordered two to share between the four of us, or we’d have been taking the rest home and eating the leftovers all week!

It’s definitely worth keeping an eye on the Westquay website for upcoming family events, as there’s always something on during the school holidays!

We were invited to Westquay to enjoy a complimentary film screening and meal, however all opinions are my own. SO Mum x
