SO Mum’s guide to springtime fun around Winchester

Here’s a little list I’ve compiled of fun family events coming up this March and April in and around Winchester!

Fancy a trip to the theatre with your little ones? Theatre Royal Winchester has loads of family friendly shows coming up this spring, starting with Twirlywoos Live on 3rd & 4th March, featuring a cast full of all your favourite characters from the hit TV show! Next up, Room on the Broom comes to Winchester on 8th – 10th March, an adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Discover the art, magic, science and fun of bubbles on 9th April with The Amazing Bubble Man, then on 18th – 20th April, see the Elmer the Patchwork Elephant show live on stage, with lots of loveable puppets!

If you find yourself with a free afternoon on 5th March, head down to Winchester Cathedral’s Outer Close for the Inaugural Winchester Pancake Race! Watch as twenty teams compete for a trophy while raising funds for the Cathedral and local charities.

Would your kids be fascinated by the Science of Sweets? (Well I know mine would!) If so, head to Winchester Science Centre during the school Easter hols to see a new live science show, along with themed activities and challenges in the Invention Studio. If LEGO or dinosaurs are more their thing, the Brickosaurs dinosaur themed LEGO event opens at Marwell Zoo on 5th April, running all through the summer… we can’t wait!

Visitors to Paultons Park will be able to meet Bobtail Bunny and friends during the Easter holidays. There will also be spring activities workshops where children can make some Easter themed crafts. Thomas the Tank Engine fans should head to the Watercress Line between 13th – 22nd April for a Day out with Thomas, which is always a fun adventure!

Last but most definitely not least, the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts are back for 2019 at National Trust places in Hampshire. Explore the grounds, searching for clues to earn a yummy chocolate prize! Take part in one of the trails at Mottisfont, Hinton Ampner or The Vyne between 6th – 22nd April, or at Winchester City Mill during the Easter weekend, 19th – 22nd April.

What are you getting up to this springtime in Winchester? Let me know via Facebook if I’ve missed out any great family events! Don’t forget to check out my diary page for family events across Hampshire.
