Firefighters were called to the Children’s Pleasure Park in Southampton this morning and found the children’s party marquee totally destroyed by fire. The Daily Echo has also reported there was damage to a children’s train and sheds, due to vandalism, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation by Hampshire Police.
The news comes just as the park had been revamped and equipment repainted in time for half term. The park holds over 40 years worth of fond memories for many Southampton families.
A Go Fund Me campaign was posted on the Children’s Pleasure Park Facebook page today, asking for help in raising £2,000 in order to repair the party room. Although this is obviously very sad news, it’s lovely to see the community pulling together to help this local family business, and they are almost halfway towards their target in one day.
Caitlin, who organised the fundraiser, said: “As a family, we were devastated to hear the news about what had happened. We are very grateful for all of the messages of support from the community and it’s given us the hope to carry on.”
